Castle Hill Avenue
A warm and inviting sandstone terrace in Folkestone’s Castle Hill Avenue, reimagined for entertaining, relaxation, and year-round use.

Paula's back garden presented a number of challenges. Awkward in shape, it doubled as a right of way for nearby apartments, and the existing boundary fence left the space feeling disconnected. As a keen gardener with a beautifully kept front garden, she wanted her rear space to be just as enjoyable - a place to relax and entertain in comfort.
We began by laying a sandstone patio in rich sunset tones, chosen for their warmth, texture, and range of colours. To create a more cohesive space, the boundary fence was moved to enclose the garden, while the tired concrete path was replaced with stepping stones that matched the patio, offering a softer, more natural way to guide pedestrians through.
Repurposed timber sleepers were used to build a raised bed, designed to house trees and shrubs that will, in time, arch over the terrace and create a sheltered, leafy canopy. The result is a garden that feels both functional and uplifting, transformed from a thoroughfare into a private retreat.
"Allberry Wells Garden Design are thoroughly to be recommended. I acquired a small garden with different levels of raised beds and a lot of gravel. Mike and Ben helped me to replan the area in stages, using existing material where possible. The pavings, path and fencing were all very carefully done and I'm totally pleased with the result."
