Julian Road
Finishing touches for an established garden in Folkestone’s Julian Road - a wildlife pond and Dungeness-inspired seating area.

Sarah and Jack already had a beautiful, established garden with a striking mimosa tree as its centrepiece. They asked for our help with some thoughtful finishing touches: a wildlife pond and a seating area designed to capture the evening sun.
Inspired by the gardens and landscapes of Dungeness, we created a relaxed seating space using reclaimed timber railway sleepers to frame a dining set. The area is surrounded by a sea of shingle, blending naturally with the well-maintained borders and lawn beyond.
The wildlife pond was dug with gentle edges and shallows, making it accessible for birds, insects, and amphibians. It is framed by Crocus and other spring bulbs, ensuring seasonal colour and early nectar for pollinators. To draw visitors through the garden, we added a gently curving path across the lawn, guiding them past the pond and on toward the new seating area - a route that invites pause and appreciation along the way.
