Radnor Cliff
A welcoming outdoor space for dining, entertaining, and family life, where contemporary design meets abundant planting.

This project at Radnor Cliff Crescent is the first of three phases in our work with Peter and Kathy. The brief was to maintain the stunning views while creating a versatile outdoor space for dining, entertaining, and family living. A generous limestone terrace, laid in large-format slabs with a contrasting basket-weave detail, provides the framework for gatherings, while subtle lighting ensures the space can be enjoyed long into the evening.
Planting plays a central role in shaping the experience of the garden. A dedicated sunbathing ‘room’ is formed by bringing planting onto the terrace, enveloping visitors in texture and colour. Robust evergreen hedging introduces structure and resilience for children at play, while the main palette — Nepeta, Geranium, Lavandula, and Erigeron, supported by soft grasses — brings movement, colour, and year-round interest.
Looking ahead, phase two will make more dramatic use of planting to frame an enclosed seating and firepit area, while phase three will transition into a wilder, woodland-inspired setting. Together, the three phases create a contemporary garden that feels both welcoming and richly planted.
